Gratitude...Better Than A Supplement??

What if I told you that I had something that could improve your health, mindset, and wellbeing AND it was totally free?

You’d probably think it was too good to be true…

Back when I was struggling with my health, I was encouraged to start writing down 10 things that I was thankful for each day and see how my life was different in 3 months…

I didn't believe that something as simple as writing a short list could change my life, but I was very wrong…

After 3 months of daily gratitude journaling I was sleeping better

I was waking up more refreshed…

I was happier…

And people said I looked noticeably different…

Tip #5 Gratitude is key!

We hear doctors and practitioners say “take this supplement” or “follow that diet”, and while a healthy diet and supplementation are two essential components of a healthy lifestyle, I think there is an equally important piece.

This piece is mindset and more specifically gratitude.

Gratitude is something that everyone can add into their daily routine regardless of where you are from, age, or financial status.

Universities have been doing research on the effects of gratitude and happiness on our health

  • Gratitude Improves Physical Health: Practicing daily gratitude has shown to help reduce stress. A study completed in 2004, showed the correlation between practicing gratitude and improved immune responses due to lower stress levels. This same study also showed the correlation between practicing gratitude with lower inflammatory markers and improved heart rate variability.

  • Improves Mental Health: A study done in 2003 found that daily practice of gratitude helped to boost mood. A further study completed in 2020 showed the link between practicing gratitude with reducing feelings of anxiety and depression

  • Improves Sleep: A 2008 study looked at 400 individuals and found that sleep quality greatly improved after thinking positive things before falling asleep.

While this may seem too good to be true, I encourage you to give it a try! I believe everyone can benefit from adding more gratitude into their life.

Here are my favorite ways to add gratitude to your daily routine…

  • Go around the dinner table every night and ask everyone to say 3 things they are thankful for

  • Meditate first thing upon waking and finish out the meditation with short list of things you're thankful for, as well as positive intentions for the day

  • Set an alarm for a specific time each day and whenever that goes off stop and take a minute to appreciate the beauty of wherever you are.

  • Send a text, email, card or call a friend or loved one and tell them how much you appreciate them.
